Do you value where you come from?

This is my favorite song. It is The Only Place by Best Coast. It’s about Los Angeles, California. The band is from there. It seems like the band is moving and they’re leaving their mark (Best Coast was here) around the city. The song and the video show how they have fun in that place and why they wouldn’t live anywhere else. While they’re driving through the road, they are looking back on how they used to hang out and which were their favorites activities to do. I think that this song is important to me because I agree with the message : To never forget where you come from and that it’s important to enjoy and love the place where you were born because it’s a valuable part of who we ar
e now.
The video really draws my attention with its natural shots at open and illuminated spaces. There are common and realistic activities in the video. It’s like a video on a budget. Also it has a lot of movement and colors that give it a “vintage touch”. The video has a lot of creative scenes and rebel attitudes which I love.
It would be great to have a lifestyle like the band in the video. A “Carpe Diem” routine. But it’s an utopic life. We all know that life isn´t just about having fun. There’re rules to follow and values to keep for life. Maybe people would think, by watching this video, that the most important message here, is to do whatever you want, with whoever you want and wherever you are, but there would be other people, like me, that would see that the main reason why the message is being sent, is not to forget where you come from. Enjoy it!
